I love what you are doing with this side "blogging" and sharing. It feels quieter on this side than other platforms of social media. I am currently taking a 90 day break from certain platforms but didn't want to completely disconnect from the photography community, so this is a very nice refreshing way to keep my mind sharp and still inspired, to go out and shoot without almost feeling like I have to compare not only my gear with a lot of people but also the photographs I would often share with the world.
So, thank you Kyle. You have certainly managed to inspire me without even having to show an image. Ha!!
The voice only format is good and even better when you add in the images. One thing might be worth checking on one of your titles. In North Wales that might be termed a “chapel” as opposed to a “church” - I might be wrong but it could be worth checking. Love this project as I spent every holiday in the 1970s on the Lleyn peninsula
Great work Kyle and notes are so important when in the field when using analog gear. I find that using NOTES on an iPhone is so easy that you can record the details although SIRI has her own idea of photographic terms :) but never the less its works and you can in notes take a photo of the scene and all is recorded. Look forward to your video coming out shortly.
This was fantastic! I like this format - field notes from... the field :)
I am an idiot when I'm in my office trying to make gear decisions - it drives me nuts. I have been trying much harder to remember and take notes when I'm in the field. What I needed / what gear worked / what didn't. Then I get home and my OCD kicks in and my GAS fires up.
I have gotten better at least. I use google sheets now to track gear and general field notes. Every camera system and film type has a sheet where. My Canon FD page in sheets got an update last weekend of "don't take the F1 out again, bring the AL-1". Along with that, the "Fall Colors" sheet already had "Take 400 speed, Gold isn't fast enough for walkabout" from last year, which prompted me to grab Porta 400.
I'm finally getting in the habit of recording the minor details that things go a lot smoother:)

Sounds like you have a good process going! Whatever helps to keep things running smooth. I know how eat it can be to get distracted.
Voice notes are a great idea, I hope this becomes a regular feature.
Cheers, Chris. I enjoyed doing this format.
Great format idea. Getting anything done quickly where film is involved is a triumph! (For me anyway)
I just started follow you here on Substack and your field notes. I really like to format. Looking forward to also see your YouTube video you mention.
Those lilies on the water are gorgeous!
Thanks. A favourite of mine from the trip
