A great listen, Kyle. I think we easily pressure ourselves to push through when at times, we just need to stop and take a breather. Sounds like a very reflective trip in that respect.
Your images are dope as usual, love the sparseness in the area you were in, was it all like that? I’m into the community idea, I’m curious what made you decide not to use Substack? With its recent influx of photographers who seem to be looking to Substack for just that type of community it would seem to be ripe for that. I’m not against Discord in any way, I just don’t want to manage yet another account but that’s a me problem haha.
Thank you. And yeah, I wouldn’t say the area is sparse, but it is quiet at this time of year, and makes for an interesting subject to point the camera at. As for using Discord, unfortunately Substack wouldn’t have fit in the same way. I really enjoy Substack, but Discord acts more as a forum for discussion. I don’t think that would have been possible to do here.
I'm very keen to join the Discord, you more than anyone have inspired me to really re-awaken the passion for photography I had as a kid, especially on film. Sadly Discord reports the invite has expired so afaik you would need to create a new one and edit the substack post. All the best from a dwindling New Zealand summer, a very big thanks for your writing and videos.
Enjoying your work and field notes Kyle, beautiful images. It's really hard to go into any day by having less attachment to expectations. If we get something in our mind that's a certain way we want, then it doesn't end up that way, disappointment. Trying to have less of a grip on attachment is definitely a hard, but worthy practice.
Glad I found you here! Love your YouTube videos. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work!!! Subbed and followed! Out here trying to make new Substack friends 😊
I've just signed up to Discord - eventually. I clicked on the "you can join us here" on the Substack article but it just took me to Discord and not to "Subjectively Objective". I've tried every option I can think of to try to find the "Subjectively Objective" spot on Discord but none of the searches take me anywhere. Can you please either update the link on Substack or send me an "invite" via my Substack. Many thanks.
A series of great shots, Kyle. Difficult to pick a fave but the one with the swans is, IMO, stellar; something really different. I've just exited Instagram and joined a different and less intense society. I really don't know anything about Discord but, if it's realistic to take being present really slowly (at least until I get up to speed) I'm considering signing up. I'm hoping it will give me extra impetus to get out and shoot more. All the best...
I never really figured out Discord, but this community sounds great so I will try it out.
I’m completely new to it as well, but it seems promising!
Hi Kyle! The Discord invite link has expired so I cannot join! Can you update the link to have a permanent one that does not expire?
Thanks! Updated now. Should be good! Or try this direct: https://discord.gg/WyMaBfZx

Love those two portraits.
Absolutely, Daniel. It’s something that I need to remind myself over and over again. Take a break!

Thank you, Francesco. Looking forward to seeing how it grows!
The image of Kamel is beautiful! enjoyed listening to your thoughts and feelings. Thanks Kyle 🤝
Thanks, Maxim. It was my definite favourite from the day.
Great episode, Kyle! And love the portrait of Kamel.
Thank you!
Substack looks brilliant, tried following the link but the invitation/link is invalid... have you got an up to date one by chance?
Thanks!
